
THE PODCAST:
What is P-56? Take a look at a Washington aeronautical chart and you’ll see two small shaded areas over the city of Washington DC. Those shaded areas represent the prohibited airspace over the nation’s capitol. In the tract of land under the airspace given the designation of Prohibited Area 56, significant work is done to regulate and develop our aviation system.
This podcast aims help any aviation professional or hobbyist learn more about what makes our aviation system tick. Hosted by Martin Rottler, a professional avgeek with experience in airline management and as a university professor in the United States, and featuring experts from across the aviation industry, each episode will take a deep dive into the known and little known areas of aviation policy, economics, and current affairs.
THE HOST: MARTIN ROTTLER, Principal, the P-56 Aviation Group
A recognized expert in the areas of pilot supply and university/corporate partnerships, Martin has presented to a wide variety of government stakeholders, industry associations, academic conferences, and other nonprofits. Previous to the P-56 Aviation Group, he has worked as the head of university recruitment & diversity outreach for a large regional airline and as a faculty member at the Ohio State University and Korea Aerospace University.
He currently serves as the Secretary for the University Aviation Association and as a Director for NGPA’s Board of Directors. He has also served as the Chair of the Young Member’s Council-Aviation and is an appointed member of two Transportation Research Board Aviation Group committees. As part of his professional responsibilities and personal passions, has worked extensively with NGPA and WAI, serving as advisor for student groups at Ohio State and volunteering with local chapters in Dallas and Columbus; he is also a member of OBAP. Martin holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree from the University of North Dakota and is a Commercial Pilot as well as a Certified Flight Instructor.
